Akor Adams Breaks Nigerian La Liga Record With Sevilla

Sevilla striker Akor Adams made history on Saturday, scoring the decisive penalty in a 2–1 La Liga win over Athletic Club at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán to become the highest-scoring Nigerian ahead of legend Rashidi Yekini in Spain’s top flight.
The Super Eagles forward converted from the spot in the second half, taking his season tally in La Liga to six goals and pushing him past several Nigerian greats on the all-time list. The victory also lifted Sevilla to 11th in the table after 21 matches.
“The team needed a moment and I was ready to take responsibility,” Adams said after the match. “Breaking a record like this means a lot for me.”
The 26-year-old has been in strong form since returning from AFCON, where Nigeria secured bronze. “My focus is to keep scoring and helping the team win,” Adams added.
Sevilla coach praised the striker’s impact, saying: “Akor is showing why he is important for us.”
