Adams Laments Sevilla Slump as Relegation Battle Intensifies in La Liga

Akor Adams has had enough. The Nigerian striker spoke out after Sevilla’s latest damaging defeat — a result that leaves the Spanish club in 17th place in La Liga with eight matches left and serious relegation fear now a reality.

Adams played the full 90 minutes against Real Oviedo but couldn’t prevent the loss. Sevilla’s task was made even harder when defender Tanguy Nianzou was sent off in the 38th minute, leaving them to play more than half the match with 10 men.

“The result was a shame,” Adams said. “It wasn’t what we had prepared with the new manager, and we have to reset and forget this result as soon as possible.”

He acknowledged the game turned against them in multiple ways — but stopped short of using it as an excuse. “We didn’t lose because of the referees,” he said. “But we had several incidents that went against us. For example, Djibril Sow nearly broke his leg.”

Sevilla have gone five games without a win. Atlético Madrid come to town on Saturday — hardly the kind of opponent a struggling side needs right now.

Adams and Sevilla are running out of time. And the table does not lie.
