Arsenal’s Oyetunde joins Fort Wayne permanently

Arsenal have confirmed that Nigerian forward Daniel Oyetunde has completed a permanent transfer to USL League One side Fort Wayne this week, ending his five-year spell in North London as he seeks regular senior football in the United States.

The 19-year-old joined Arsenal in October 2021 and rose through the Hale End academy, making his U21 debut at just 16 in a Premier League Cup clash against Burnley. He went on to feature 31 times across the U18 and U21 levels and gained further experience on loan at St Albans City, playing in an FA Cup first-round tie against Burton Albion.

Speaking to Fort Wayne’s official website, Oyetunde said: “I’ve chosen Fort Wayne because it’s the right next step for my career. It’s men’s football in a good league.” He added, “This new project is exciting and I can’t wait to get started.”

Fort Wayne officials described him as “a young talent ready to grow in a competitive environment.”
