CAF move boosts Super Falcons before WAFCON 2026

Nigeria’s Super Falcons could gain a preparation advantage after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced a key decision affecting the build-up to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
CAF confirmed adjustments to the tournament planning timeline, a move expected to influence how national teams organise squads and training camps ahead of the continental competition. The change could give Nigeria more time to fine-tune their squad as they chase another title.
“This gives teams clearer preparation plans,” a CAF official said.
A Nigerian football analyst welcomed the development, adding: “Extra preparation time can only strengthen a team like the Super Falcons.”
Nigeria, the most successful side in WAFCON history, will now look to use the opportunity to sharpen their squad ahead of the 2026 tournament.
