Chelle Tracking Millwall’s Femi Azeez — 17 Goals Involvements, Three Nations to Choose From

Eric Chelle is casting the net wide — and one name keeps coming up.

Femi Azeez, Millwall’s breakout winger, is on the Super Eagles coach’s radar ahead of the Unity Cup in London next month. Born in England to a Nigerian father and a Spanish mother, Azeez can represent England, Nigeria, or Spain. He’s uncapped by any of them. So the race is on.

This season he has 17 goal involvements in 33 Championship appearances — enough to earn a spot in the EFL Team of the Season. ESPN’s Colin Udoh reports Chelle is “closely monitoring Azeez with a view to handing him his maiden international call-up.”

One more detail that matters: Azeez shares an agent with Wrexham goalkeeper Okonkwo — another player Chelle has been tracking. The same agency. The same coach. Nigeria could be about to land two in one move.
