Gusau Dismisses Rumours Over Coach Eric Chelle

Nigeria Football Federation president Ibrahim Gusau has downplayed reports linking Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle with a possible exit, insisting the federation remains focused on stability ahead of upcoming international fixtures.

Speaking on Tuesday in Abuja, Gusau addressed speculation surrounding Chelle’s future, stressing that there is no official approach for the coach. “We are not aware of any concrete offer for Eric Chelle,” he said. “He remains committed to the Super Eagles project.”

The NFF chief added that the federation is satisfied with the coach’s direction since taking charge. “Our priority is continuity and progress,” Gusau noted. “We want to build a strong team without unnecessary distractions.”

Chelle, who has been working to reshape the squad, is preparing Nigeria for crucial qualifiers in the coming months. “The focus is on performance and results,” a federation source added, dismissing talk of imminent changes to the technical bench.
