Lawal urges Chelle to trust youth at AFCON 2025

Former Flying Eagles star Salim Fago Lawal has called on Nigeria coach Eric Chelle to show faith in younger players ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, insisting fresh talent could strengthen the Super Eagles’ title push.

Lawal, who has impressed with consistent performances at club level, believes Nigeria must combine experience with emerging players to compete strongly at the tournament.

“We have talented young players who can help the team,” Lawal said. “If the coach gives them confidence, they will deliver.”

The forward added that representing Nigeria at AFCON remains a major motivation. “Every player dreams of playing for the Super Eagles and fighting for the trophy.”

Nigeria head into the continental tournament aiming to reclaim the title they last won in 2013, with Chelle expected to blend established stars with promising newcomers.
