Leicester Lose Super Eagles Target Okoli to Season-Ending Hamstring Injury

Leicester City’s already thin defensive options just got thinner. Caleb Okoli has been ruled out for the remainder of the Championship season with a hamstring injury sustained in training, manager Gary Rowett confirmed ahead of the Swansea City fixture.

Ben Nelson is also out with a thigh problem, leaving Rowett to reshuffle with Jannik Vestergaard and Jamaal Lascelles. At a point where, in Rowett’s own words, “every game matters,” the timing couldn’t be worse.

Okoli made nearly 30 league appearances this season, contributing a goal and an assist and starting every match since Rowett’s arrival. His absence is a significant blow.

The Nigeria-eligible defender has been monitored by the Super Eagles — though he has indicated Italy as his preferred international allegiance.
