Marseille open talks over Super Eagles defender move

Olympique Marseille have opened talks to sign Nigeria international defender ahead of the 2026 season, with the Ligue 1 club keen to strengthen their back line. Discussions began this week in France, with Marseille targeting the Super Eagles star after his consistent club and international performances.
A source close to the deal said Marseille view the defender as “a priority signing” due to his pace and versatility. “He fits the profile we want,” the source added.
The player, who has featured regularly for Nigeria, is open to the move. “Playing at a top European club is always the goal,” he said, according to local media.
Former Super Eagles coach described the potential transfer as “a big step,” noting that Marseille offers “the right platform to grow.”
Negotiations are ongoing, with Marseille hopeful of completing the deal before the summer window closes.
