Molde’s Daga faces six-month jail sentence in Norway

Molde midfielder Daniel Daga has been handed a six-month prison sentence by a Norwegian court after being found guilty of committing a sexual act without consent, a ruling that has cast serious doubt over the young Nigerian’s football future.

The 19-year-old, who joined Molde from Nigeria in 2025 after rising with the Flying Eagles, denied wrongdoing and is expected to appeal the decision. “He strongly disagrees with the verdict and believes the act was consensual,” his lawyer said after the judgment.

Molde confirmed the player will not be involved with the team while the legal situation unfolds. The case leaves the promising midfielder’s career at a crossroads as the appeal process begins.
