Ndidi, Iwobi back Chelle to stay Eagles coach

Super Eagles stars Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi have thrown their support behind head coach Éric Chelle, urging the Nigeria Football Federation to retain him after the team’s recent AFCON campaign. The players spoke this week amid speculation over Chelle’s future with the national team.

Ndidi said continuity is key for progress. “We believe in the coach and his ideas,” the midfielder said. “Changing again will only set us back.” Iwobi echoed the sentiment, adding, “He understands the players and what the team needs to grow.”

Chelle guided Nigeria to a strong run at the tournament, rebuilding cohesion and trust within the squad. A senior team source noted, “The players feel settled and want stability moving forward.”

With World Cup qualifiers approaching, the players insist keeping Chelle would help maintain momentum. “We’re building something,” Ndidi added. “It shouldn’t be stopped now.”
