Nigeria to host inaugural African Boxing Congress Dec 28

Nigeria will host the first-ever African Boxing Congress on Sunday, December 28, 2025, in Lagos, alongside a Boxing Gala Night, with officials from more than 20 African national federations expected to attend.
Nigeria Boxing Federation vice-president Omonlei Imadu said the NBF is “excited” to stage the event and promised the federation would do “all in our power” to deliver a successful congress. He added the gathering could “position” Nigeria as a key hub for continental boxing decision-making.
The hosting rights were awarded by African Boxing, an arm of World Boxing, and reports say the move also strengthens Lagos’ push to become the confederation’s continental headquarters.
