Nnadi earns first Super Eagles call-up for AFCON push

Tochukwu Nnadi, who plies his trade in Belgium with Zulte Waregem, has earned a maiden call-up to the Super Eagles as Nigeria fine-tunes plans for the AFCON 2025 qualifiers. His inclusion, announced this week, signals a big step forward in his career and reflects the progress he has made since moving to Europe.

The midfield battler has forced his way into contention on the back of a string of eye-catching performances, impressing with his reading of the game, timely interceptions and ability to win back possession. He has featured regularly for his club this season, building a reputation for consistency that caught the attention of Nigeria’s technical crew.

“I’m still trying to process it — this is something every Nigerian kid dreams about,” Nnadi told local media. “I’m grateful and fully focused on making the most of this chance.”

A member of the Super Eagles coaching staff described the midfielder as “hungry, disciplined and tactically mature,” adding that his profile fits Nigeria’s long-term plans. Belgian analysts also see the selection as proof that the Super Eagles are widening their talent pool ahead of AFCON 2025, blending emerging names with experience.
