Okolie stops Tetteh in Lagos, eyes Itauma clash

Lawrence Okolie powered past Ebenezer Tetteh in Lagos, Nigeria, stopping the Ghanaian in round two after a knockdown and a corner retirement in his third outing at heavyweight. The win keeps Okolie on track for a bigger target in 2026, with the WBC having ordered a final eliminator against rising British star Moses Itauma.
Okolie, who has spoken about what boxing on Nigerian soil means to him, said: “Fighting in Lagos means everything to me… Under the Detty December lights, I’m putting on a show you won’t forget.” His trainer Joe Gallagher added the mandated matchup was unexpected, saying: “They made Lawrence and Moses as a final eliminator, which was a surprise.”
Itauma has previously said a Nigeria fight is “the end goal,” but first he is scheduled to face Jermaine Franklin in Manchester on January 24.
