Okonkwo Switches Allegiance to Nigeria

Arsenal goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has completed a nationality switch to represent Nigeria at international level, the Nigeria Football Federation confirmed this week, paving the way for a potential Super Eagles call-up.
The 22-year-old, who previously featured for England at youth level, opted to change allegiance in order to boost his chances of senior international football. FIFA approved the request, making him eligible for Nigeria ahead of upcoming qualifiers.
“It’s an honour to represent Nigeria,” Okonkwo said. “This is a big step in my career.”
An NFF official added, “Arthur brings quality and competition to the squad.”
Okonkwo has impressed during his recent club spells, keeping multiple clean sheets this season, and now hopes to translate that form onto the international stage with the Super Eagles.
