Onyeka urges NFF to keep Chelle

Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka has appealed to the Nigeria Football Federation not to part ways with head coach Eric Chelle, following reports of uncertainty over his future, on Thursday in Abuja. Onyeka said Chelle has brought stability and belief to the team at a crucial stage of preparations for upcoming qualifiers.

“Please don’t let him go,” Onyeka said, as quoted by Daily Post. “The coach understands us and has helped improve the team spirit.”

The Brentford player added that Chelle’s ideas are beginning to show results, stressing, “We are growing as a group and need continuity.”

However, an NFF source hinted that Chelle’s position is still under review, saying, “All decisions will be taken in the best interest of Nigerian football.”

Chelle was appointed last year as Nigeria targets success in major tournaments.
