Osimhen Targets Fenerbahce Derby Return After Fractured Arm

Victor Osimhen is back in training — of sorts. Indoors. Individual sessions. One step at a time.

The Galatasaray and Super Eagles striker has started his comeback after fracturing his right forearm in a mid-air collision with Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté at Anfield on March 18, during the Champions League. Surgery lasted three hours. It went well. The hard part is what comes next.

Galatasaray have confirmed Osimhen “has returned to light training as he works towards a comeback.” The plan is gradual — indoor work first, then light outdoor drills, then full contact. He will wear a custom protective splint when he returns to match action.

The target is circled: the Intercontinental Derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26. Turkish football analyst Levent Tüzemen is already backing him to start. “Unless something unforeseen happens, Osimhen will be in the starting eleven for the Fenerbahçe match,” he said. He added an old Turkish saying for good measure: “A broken bone heals in as much time as the person’s age.”

Osimhen is 27. Coach Okan Buruk is not rushing a thing. But the biggest game on Galatasaray’s calendar is five weeks away — and their striker is coming for it.
