Osimhen Trails Onuachu by Six in AFCON Golden Boot Race

Victor Osimhen has fallen six goals behind fellow Nigerian Paul Onuachu in the AFCON 2025 Golden Boot race after the latest round of matches. Osimhen, who has scored four times in the qualifiers, remains in pursuit as Onuachu leads the charts with ten goals.

“Goals matter, but the team comes first,” Osimhen said after Nigeria’s recent fixture. Onuachu, meanwhile, credited teamwork for his form, saying, “I’m benefiting from great service.” A Super Eagles coach added that the competition between the strikers is “healthy and motivating.”

With several qualifiers still to play, the race remains open as Nigeria’s forwards continue to push each other ahead of the tournament.
