Real Madrid Track Nigeria-Eligible Atalanta Teen Ahanor

Real Madrid are monitoring Honest Ahanor — and so is almost everyone else.
The 18-year-old Atalanta centre-back, born to Nigerian parents in Aversa and raised in Genoa, has become one of the most coveted teenagers in European football. Transfer insider Gianluca Di Marzio says Los Blancos are “closely tracking” him. Chelsea and Manchester City were already circling. AC Milan and Bayern Munich are watching too.
Atalanta paid €17 million for him. He has repaid significant chunks of that already, making 28 appearances across Serie A, the Champions League and the Coppa Italia this season. He ranks 12th in the 2026 NXGN list of the world’s best U19 talents.
On March 31 he made his competitive debut for Italy’s U21 side against Sweden. He chose Italy over Nigeria — the country of his parents but not where he grew up. “Being able to represent your country, the place you live in and that’s in your blood, is a powerful feeling that makes all the sacrifices worthwhile,” Ahanor said.
Nigeria have not closed the door. He remains technically eligible for the Super Eagles, but any switch now requires FIFA clearance. For now he is Italy’s. And every major club in Europe wants him next.
