Super Falcons travel to Abidjan for WAFU B

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have departed for Abidjan ahead of the WAFU B Women’s Cup, using the regional tournament as a key step in preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The team left Nigeria this week and will compete in Côte d’Ivoire against West African rivals as head coach Randy Waldrum sharpens his squad for continental duty. The Falcons are expected to blend experienced players with emerging talent as they target match fitness and cohesion.
“This competition is important for our growth,” Waldrum said before departure, stressing the need to test combinations under pressure. Team captain Rasheedat Ajibade added that the players are “focused on building momentum and winning confidence.”
Nigeria head into the tournament as one of the favourites, having dominated women’s football in the region for years. Analysts believe the WAFU B Cup offers a timely opportunity to assess depth ahead of tougher WAFCON challenges.
The Super Falcons open their campaign later this week as preparations for 2026 gather pace.
