Young Super Eagles Midfielder Nears Big Move to Champions League-Bound Side

Super Eagles midfielder Papa Mustapha Daniel is closing in on a transfer to Swiss Super League champions BSC Young Boys, a club that regularly competes in European competitions including the UEFA Champions League. The 23-year-old Nigerian, who starred for Niger Tornadoes with three goals and three assists in 21 NPFL games, has been in advanced talks with Young Boys in recent weeks.

Daniel, who recently earned his first call-up to Nigeria’s national squad for 2026 World Cup qualifiers, left Turkish side Adanaspor after four months due to unpaid wages before his resurgence in Nigeria’s top flight.

His potential move to Bern would mark a major step up — giving the home-grown talent a platform in Europe’s elite competitions. “I’m ready for this challenge and to prove my worth on the big stage,” a source close to the deal said, as negotiations near completion.

Young Boys are known for developing young stars and Daniel’s arrival could add dynamism to their midfield as they prepare for continental action next season.
